- They aren't included in the OSHA website, so you could check with an existing salon and see if they will share, check this area and see if this will help direct you to the right office in the DOL: http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/index.html

- If the salon has more than 10 employees they will have to comply with OSHA regulations. There are several states that have state plans, most of which are identical to Federal OSHA regulations. The one state that would have rules that would be of particular concern to a massage therapy establishment is California. California has an ergonomics standard. The link to the OSHA page that shows whether you are in a state with their own approved plan is here: http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/osp/index.html If you have more than 10 employees at your job you should follow the OSHA Small Business Compliance guide. http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/small-business.html You can also check with any professional associations to see if they have any compliance documents that point out standards the industry commonly deals with. You can also ask OSHA to enroll in the consultation program where they will assist you with compliance in business practices and written plans. http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/smallbusiness/consult.html
