Occupational Safety and Health Administration Logs

What is the probability that OSHA will find that your air quality violates the standard?

7.Suppose you own a factory that uses lead in its manufacturing process. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) limits the amount of airborne lead in a factory to 3 particles per cubic meter of air. You are about to be inspected by OSHA and you know that you have an average of 2.5 particles of lead per cubic meter of air. The inspector will tests three cubic meters of air. What is the probability that OSHA will find that your air quality violates the standard? This is a probability question. Need to use Poisson here.

  1. remember, osha does not want to shut down businesses. they want to self sustain. you will seldom, if ever, be shut down for almost any transgression. you will be given an amount of time to fix problem, unless serious threat to health. this includes your problem above. what will happen is there will be a fine ( money rules all things with government). by the way your problem above fits my scenario pretty well. you will not be found in violation, but in tenuous compliance - they will be back. good luck
