does anyone know weather occupational health at work can obtain your medical record hospital/doctors.?
i work within a hospital environment and I was just wondering if occupational health could obtain my medical record from another hospital or a doctors surgery?.

- Not unless you sign a release for them to do so.
- Absolutely not without your permission. It's called HIPPA and your privacy is guaranteed under this. If they have your records without your permission, I smell a lawsuit!
- Not sure where you are based, but HIPPA is a US thing. In the UK you may have given permission for these records to be obtained as part of your employment conditions. However, this is not necessarily an issue. Medical records are provided in confidence and the duty of confidence of a medical professional is ALWAYS to the patient NEVER to the organisation.
