When you are applying for a nursing university.
Public Comments
- Normally they are carried out by your employers free of charge. So in your case its they nursing university or the NHS
- It simply means checking on your overall health to do the job, they will probably check your Blood Pressure, Respirations, Pulse, ask you to provide a Urine sample, check your weight and height. They will ask questions about family health, family diseases such a Diabetes and Epilepsy, any Medicines you take etc. Nothing to worry about unless you smoke, drink excessively or use drugs.
- Actually an Occupational Health Assessment will just check that you are fit to do the job in hand. You should not be asked for blood checks, Drug tests or Urine Tests. They may look at things like hygiene and it is really to protect the employer so that they are not taking on any staff who already have issues. Like a bad back, you might try to claim from the hospital Because you hurt your back at work when you have always had problems with your back. It is so the employer does not take on any legacy. Usually it is done in the form of a confidential questionnaire and then if any problems are flagged an Occupational Health Nurse will assess you. Don't worry it is not a problem at all - even if you do have hepatitis they should still have do employ you. Other wise they are breaking the disability discrimination act!
