  1. bit hard what industrie or problems do you face in the work place , ask the employees there opinion first up and do the training cousre its a legal resposibility the employer must pay for it and ask the manegment what they think are there problem areas.
  2. Congratulations on your promotion. If you do not have any background in OHS then you should look for some training. Contact the state safety council in your state or the National Safety Council (www.nsc.org). They have lots of classes to help you. At a minimum you should start with the OSHA 10-hour class covering general industry or construction, depending on what's right for your industry. You best resource will be the OSHA website (www.osha.gov). To determine where you should start with, take your last 5 years of OSHA accident and illness logs and review the types of injuries and illnesses you have had. If you don't have OSHA logs, that becomes a problem. You also need to have a written Hazard Communication Program. Look at 29 CFR 1910.1200 for the requirements. If your employees use personal protective equipment (PPE), you will need to do a hazard assessment to validate the PPE they are using. Look at 29 CFR 1910.132 for the requirements.
