Why should I attend OSHA Training? What are the benefits to my company for me being trained?
I need to convince my employer to pay for me to attend an OSHA training conference. Now I need to come up with reasons on a justification memorandum. I am in charge of Safety for a 800 person organization.

- Well I would think that the obvious would be that having someone trained would give the company more in-site into what the laws and regulations are, thus preventing the breaking of those regulations unknowingly. OSHA fines can be very steep I would think that the cost of training and prevention would far out weigh the possible fines.
- Insurance. Companies usually have to insure their employees and they get a huge discount if the workers are OSHA trained. Plus, if you do get hurt on the job and the investigators find out you had no safety training the company could be liable to a pretty stiff fine, not to mention being told to cease operations until all employees were trained.
- With 800 people OSHA compliance is mandated by many insurance companies. By implementing an approved OSHA plan, the company can seek lower insurance premiums. By maintaining a safe work environment, the workers comp rate can also be reduced. With 800 people, that is a huge savings.
