ive read this somewhere before I DID NOT WRITE IT but i love it and i want to know your opinion about it and if you agree and if not why? I am a conservative. This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school. After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department. And then I log on to the internet -- which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration -- and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right. lol i also think you need to read the part where i said i DIDNT WRITE IT . oh you silly person i also never gave my opinion. but i like how everyone so far who has replied some how cant make an opinion statement. but / thats you also. your a wild pig and im a wild pig were all wild pigs. do you make your own water? do you get it from a well? did you pave your own roads to drive on ? build your own car? your used to the goverment providing things for you. just like the pigs are used to eating the food that person provided. this little story is america also. now im not saying i agree or disagree with but if your going to use the wild pig story thats just means everyone is a wild pig so basically it doesnt matter if were conservative socialist capitalist or liberals were all f*cked

That isn't socialism, and socialism wouldn't work in this country. However, I liked the story. It does show that certain aspects of social democracy are essential to a well-shaped nation.
Apples and Oranges.
It's not that the government can't do anything right (although they screw up a lot of the things that they take over), it's that they shouldn't be doing all these things. Private organizations could do most of that just as well. The government can and should be providing a military service and maintenance of public structures (buildings, roads). I just don't want them controlling every aspect of my life. Having read that, I'm a bit frightened to see just how much of everyone's daily life is controlled by the politicians in Washington.
Look up the meaning of socialism dear one. Managment of our country with our tax dollars does not in any way equate to socialism. Big difference!
Funny how some of those departments are responsible for the need for reform in health care. DOT, USDA etc are set up to ensure safety. A watchdog. The health care system would be running the system itself not taking a side role of making things safe. As with most of the departments listed tax dollars are not taken from the wealthy and distributed to those who cannot pay. Socialism is that. When I will be funding others health care. That is where you get socialism in the same sentence as health care. What was written doesn't prove a point.

There's a big difference between total anarchy (or no government) and socialism (or an all-encompassing, intrusive government)... and a big difference between regulation for the good of society and regulation for control! If you want a good example of "all-encompassing" look at California which announced that mammograms would not be performed on women under 50 along the same lines as the report last week that all the Progressives SWORN would NOT be used as a guideline for health care rationing, how abortion and illegal coverage is IN THE BILL after Obama swore BEFORE CONGRESS (and Wilson called Him a "liar" for it!) or Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel's (brother of Rahm) article "Principles of Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions" advocates THIS!? A Party which openly, brazenly LIES to the American People does not have that People's "best interests" at heart!
