  1. Occupational Health Consultants make sure that the medical treatment indeeds helps cure or relieve any work related conditions (or injuries). At the same time, coverage for such conditions have attached regulations and protocols. Therefore, consultants makes sure that medical facilities follow them. Some of these rules are as followed: 1.) Doctor is required to issue a work status every time a patient is seen. If there are limitations, the physician needs to state the work restrictions. 2.) Medical facility needs to issue a report at least once every 45 days until patient is discharged. If the patient does not show for the appointments, they are assumed recovered and automatically discharged. 3.) In Occupational Health, there are specific parties that are exempt from HIPPA. The consultant makes sures that only the proper parties get your medical confidential information. 4.) Since occupational health services are charged differently, they get authorization from the carrier. Any thing rendered to you cannot be billed to you if the insurance carrier or company does not pay. Only a lien can be filed against the company. ------------------------ ** So to answer your question, who benefits from this. The answer is both the company and the patient.
