What shoulsd I say at my occupational health interview?

I may lose my job so my employers have refered me to the occy health dept. I feel stressed at work and in my personal life by what should I tell them that'll at least buy me more time or indeed time off with stress?

  1. I suppose it would be best to just be honest about how over-whelmed you are feeling.
  2. Try the truth, not overemphasising or exaggerating your problems but being open and honest with them. It might also be a good thing to get some advice over your potential severance deal and things like agreed references and your eligibility for various benefits. Good luck.
  3. Yes, just tell them the truth. They're probably used to skivers, so don't try it on.
  4. Occupational health are not there to take your job from you. In most cases they are on your side. And if your stressed etc its your employers job to help you out. Stress can lead to depression in most cases its how it all starts. I was off my work for over 6 months last year because I came down with depression, And although you may not be as bad as I was your clearly feeling the strain of everyday life. When I was first asked to go to Occupational Health my immediate reaction was to think "Oh no this is because they want to get rid of me" But it isn't. They are there to help and by telling them the truth however hard it may feel to do so... Its still the best policy. Stress is a real thing that effects real people and believe me when I say it can lead to allot of other problems such as anxiety disorders and depression, all sorts. Anyway to sum things up simply tell the truth about how you feel and don't worry about it they are there to help. Good luck.
