Occupational Safety and Health Administration Logs

Why do you hate socialism?

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the national oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US department of agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the food and drug administration. At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the national institute of standards and technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my national highway traffic safety administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads built by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the environmental protection agency, using legal tender issued by the federal reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school. Then, after spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the department of labor and the occupational safety and health administration, I drive back to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and the fire marshall's inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department. I then log onto the internet which was developed by the defense advanced research projects administration and post on freerepublic and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything right.

Public Comments

  1. Because I am a conservative Capitalist
  2. why dont you understand slavery...?....if i work and the govt takes my money to give to someone who refuses to...is that anything other than slavery...?...
  3. You are confusing Socialism with public works. Socialism is a complete take over of private business by the government (much like the federal takeover of the banking, and auto and mortgage industries) Socialism leaves the consumer (you and I) with no choice and that is why I hate it.
  4. I really REALLY hope this is ironic...
  5. People are brainwashed to hate socialism by the same public school system that is socialism.
  6. If you want to live in a socialist country then go to one. We The People (power to the people) will fight for everything our veterans fought and died for. Obama has a fight on his hands.
  7. Well done!!! What you have demonstrated is that all these short sighted, narrow minded people demanding the government out of their lives don't realize it means living in rusting bus in the Alaskan wilderness starving to death. People in the US have not idea what the government does for them because they take it for granted. More importantly their lack of respect for the government employees that do their job well and often beyond the call of duty going without notice is reprehensible.
  8. A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man; a debt he proposes to pay off with your money I am a free market capitalist.
  9. I let Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck do my thinking. I'm a patriot just like them :)
  10. Private corporations being regulated so they do not price gouge the public for obscene profits is one thing.Taking control 100% to where no one else will try to compete is another. My wife and I went to a chiropractor ,she had no insurance at the time and I did. They charged her 30$ per visit(still made a profit)charged me 45$ per visit and my insurance company 45$. If the Government made all the medical offices charge the uninsured price to everyone, made the insurance companies cut their rates by 70%, found out how much it cost to make certain medicines and made the drug companies sell it at a 10% profit then more people could afford health coverage and a wider variety.Your taxes will increase dramatically over the next 10 yrs if this goes into affect, and the system as with welfare and medicaide will suffer the same abuse.
  11. Yes the socialist methodology has brought us so many modern innovations.
  12. any of those that are state or local institutions don't apply to this issue half of the national ones that you mentioned are, at best, marginally efficient
  13. Ask those who has lived under Socialism, then you will understand why it is hated. And the FCC should be abolished, it is unconstitutional censorship.
  14. I prefer Liberty
  15. So then, you're prepared to let bureaucracy decide if you can have a heart transplant, who's heart will it be, when will the operation take place, and who will do the cutting? You're a braver man than me, but a hell of a lot more naive !
  16. I don't. I have traveled all over the world and somehow never ended up in a socialist country. Perhaps there are none.
  17. I'm for socialism. People should educate themselves on what socialism is and maybe then they would give it a better rating.
  18. Less government = more choices = people staying out of MY business, whether social or economical. You WILL NOT DICTATE my life, nor how I live it. Certaintly if we allowed socialism to any greater a degree government dogs/liberals would outlaw all religion, then we would be real free aye?
  19. You did a good job on that. It took some work. good points made. It was civil and logical. I think what you wrote of were for the most part public services and safe guards. any society needs them. Political ideology no mater which side of the fence you are on is indeed a different entity. I feel that one single political ideology can not survive as the sole entity in a society. It can not be done. From school I learned that communism is where everything is in common, like in a commune. Have you ever watched Doctor Zhivago? That was very good, and I feel it was a good portrayal of their attempt to make everything in common. rent it on DVD if you can. They had a big house they confiscated from a rich guy and it was determined it could house several families. I guess they all were supposed to chip in and keep it up, because everything is community owned. Put the human factor in there, it simply did not work in the long haul. However, communist China has allowed a controlled measure of capitalism which has made the place boom economically. They still can not speak openly, they still have many civil rights violations. But, the country as a whole is better because they let go of their single ideology. Capitalism in its purest form is evil. Human slavery of black people is a prime example of its purest evil form. Have you ever heard the song "I owe my soul to the company store"? That song is about something that is almost as evil. Miners were paid sub standard wages. There were no other housing or stores to buy stuff in except that which was supplied by the company with unfair prices. consequently, people got further in debt every day of their life... It was quite unfair. the rich mine owners were just that... rich off of the backs of their white (and other) "free slaves". Socialism is where the wealthy are taxed, and the wealth is redistributed to the ones who have little. This seems fair in a way. Marget Thatcher said (paraphrased) "The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money", the full story of what she said exactly is in the link below. Anyway, Socialism takes away or at lest hinders the human incentive to upgrade ones position in life. It also takes away some incentive to be a productive member of society. Socialism is also the opposite of Aesop's Fable"the grasshopper and the ant". Some say that socialism is the first step to communism, but I do not believe that because Europe has been that way for generations.... they do not want communism but they can not break their socialist bonds either. In conclusion, I guess what we have today is one of the better ideological entities. Capitalism with safe guards from abuse. Nothing is perfect by no means, that is why problems show up and laws are made to plug the new hole in the dike. Obama is a socialist. It doesn't matter what he says he is, his goals are clear. I agree something needs to be done with health care, I did got burnt by the greed of Lincoln National Insurance and their greedy actions which were under the radar of the law.... I had to file bankruptcy. I do feel we should have socialized medicine, but not the tricky lying and BS way Obama and Pelosi are doing it. They are villains for lying to the people. they are hitting the wall from previous misinformation and deception. To memory, I have never seen the executive and legislative branches of government in bed so tightly, this breeds corruption babies. And that is what we have until the people wake up with the 2010 elections.... Or their Waterloo may come with their health care plans. I personally am a Conservative Constitutionalist. I do not see our country lasting all that much longer, both sides of the fence have abandoned the Constitution. Sotomayor is a prime example of that, and of what is already in there in the Supreme and lower courts. What a judge is supposed to do is evaluate a situation against and by what the Constitution says. these lefty loons now have empathy to re-write the Constitution with their empathetic judicial tinkering.... they have a humanistic ideal and judge a case on their own personal ideology, then dance all around what the Constitution says. The correct form of government is to change the Constitution with an amendment to keep up with changing society. From what I understand, the supreme court has only been overturned by an amendment 4 times, and one of them was their ruling that slavery was a Constitutional right. "Do Process" no longer includes all of the words written in the Constitution, even more of the Constitution is being dropped each year. The 111th congress has abandon "do process". We are on clay feet.
